Declaration on accessibility

We endeavor to make this website accessible in accordance with the Federal Act on Barrier-free Access to Websites and Mobile Applications of the Federal Government (Web Accessibility Act - WZG) BGBl. I. No. 59/2019 as amended, to make it accessible without barriers.

This declaration on accessibility applies to this website.

Status of compliance with the requirements

This website is partially compliant with conformance level AA of the "Web Content Accessibility Guidelines - WCAG 2.1" or with the applicable European Standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2021-03) according to Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council due to the following incompatibilities.

Content that is not accessible

Due to the historical development of the website, we assume that the content of the website is not fully accessible.
The content listed below is not accessible for the following reasons:

a. Incompatibility with accessibility regulations

  • Some images and buttons do not have alternative texts or the alternative text does not contain a description of the specific image.
  • Some tables do not have a header; in some cases the headings are missing or the heading structure is incorrect; lists are not formatted as such or the ARIA label is missing.
  • The requirements for sufficient contrast in text and non-text content in accordance with WCAG Level AA are not yet consistently met on the website.
  • The structure and labeling of headings and form fields is constantly being revised to improve comprehensibility and usability for all users.
  • The requirement for reformatting at high magnification without loss of information or functionality is largely met; content generally remains usable even at high zoom levels.
  • The website is generally keyboard-friendly. Most functions can be used without a mouse, but there are still minor limitations with individual elements.
  • We plan to successively rectify those deficiencies that can be remedied editorially (e.g. missing alternative texts for images).
  • We plan to successively rectify those deficiencies that are technically feasible (e.g. limited usability).

b. Disproportionate load

  • The tab order or menu position is sometimes incorrect
  • Some of our videos are hosted and published on this website and some on the YouTube video platform. It is not possible to provide the required audio descriptions for some of these videos.

c. The content does not fall within the scope of the applicable legislation

  • Historical documents (e.g. older image and PDF documents) are not or only insufficiently accessible for screen reader users and only insufficiently scalable.

Enforcement procedure

In the event of unsatisfactory answers from the above contact option, you can contact the Complaints Office of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) by means of a complaint. The FFG accepts complaints electronically via the complaints office contact form.
The complaints are examined by the FFG to determine whether they relate to violations of the provisions of the Web Accessibility Act, in particular deficiencies in compliance with accessibility requirements, by the federal government or an institution attributable to it.
If the complaint is justified, the FFG must make recommendations for action to the federal government or the legal entities concerned and propose measures to remedy the existing deficiencies.
